April 2017
You might have missed it. March was National Ladder Safety Month.

Every year 300 people die in ladder related accidents and many more are injured. National Ladder Safety Month was thought up to raise awareness of ladder safety and to help reduce ladder related injuries and deaths.

As a roofing contractor we use all types of ladders in the course of our daily work. Our workers our continually trained on how to visually inspect their work ladders, the proper angle to set their ladders, and how to survey the adjacent areas for potential hazards. Something as common as an extension ladder can be a valuable tool to allow us to do our work but needs to be treated with respect.

To be sure that your chosen roofing contractor knows all aspects of ladder safety call on Service Works, Your Full Service Roofing Contractor.

Resilient Approach Maximizes Your Return On Roof Investment

In the building industry, the meaning of "green" has evolved significantly. In the 1980s the term focused tightly on environmental impacts. Since then it has broadened to include concepts of sustainability and then of resilience.
The Resilient Design Institute identifies resilience as "the capacity to adapt to changing conditions and to maintain or regain functionality and vitality in the face of distress or disturbance." This approach encompasses environmental as well as economic and social considerations.
Resilience goes beyond durability to redundancy and back-ups. It focuses on extreme weather as well as power outages and transportation interruptions. It encompasses safety and comfort for occupants and production of power, lighting and water.

Climatologists predicted a slightly below-average 2017 Atlantic hurricane season that would include 11 named storms, including four hurricanes, with two of them being a Category 3 or higher. They also, however, emphasized that forecasts are always uncertain.
Now is a good time to have your roof inspected to make sure that the drains and gutters are cleaned out, all pitch pans are sealed, the field and flashing membranes and tight, and any debris that can become airborne is removed.
